Meet Ted Gaiser

Over the years I have encountered clergy colleagues, church parishioners, and friends in need of financial guidance. They were in the midst of a divorce, struggling with a major health issue, carrying heavy school loan debt, overextended on their credit cards, or had significant mortgage debt.

All were struggling to reorganize their financial lives. In all cases, they were looking for a compassionate, non-judgmental ear from someone who also knew something about personal finances, and who could provide guidance to help them rebuild both their emotional and financial well-being.

They knew financial changes were necessary, but lacked the confidence to make changes on their own. They were seeking counsel to help them restructure their financial lives in a way that would reflect their values. In short, they wanted solid financial guidance wrapped in a pastoral perspective.

I was raised in a New England working-class household and self-financed my education with grants, scholarships, fellowships and part-time employment.

I assumed financial responsibility for my grandmother when she entered nursing care, managing her finances for eleven years. I also have personal experience with the kinds of financial challenges that come with major health issues.

I have worked in management since the late 1980s and have been ordained since 2001. My professional background includes many years of financial, business and project management consulting, university teaching and administration, and ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church. In addition to my undergraduate degree in history and graduate degree in theology, I hold an MBA/PhD and have studied financial planning at the Boston Institute of Finance.

I have offered faith-based workshops on personal finance, taught hands-on classes on personal finance for newly ordained clergy, and provided financial guidance to clergy colleagues and also to parishioners through pastoral care.

Throughout those experiences, I found that I not only have a passion for financial literacy, but also have a passion for providing financial support and guidance to individuals when they are facing major challenges.

After some thoughtful reflection, I decided to begin offering personal financial consulting and would welcome the opportunity to work with you.
